Well, I’m stuck with the CE development. I’ve been suffering from a writers block about 2 weeks. It’s probably caused by the 16 hour work days that I’ve done 7 days a week for few months now. I’m going to lessen the work load and add more structure in the days. Also I’ll try to not work on weekends. Hopefully those actions will bring us back to the track.
Anyway, I’m now starting a side project that will also be part of CubicExplorer. It’s called CubicViewer and it’s main function is to display files, mainly images and video. It will replace the QuickView in CE but also it will be available as a separate application. Working with this new project should give me some distance on CE and hopefully will help in breaking the block.
A very sensible decision.
Never overdo it, take your time. As it is CE is already a very usefull program and all other ideas are welcome additions but not needed today (tomorrow will do :-)) )
I hope you don’t intend to take the quick viewer out of CE to replace it with the new viewer, I like the quick view option very much and would hate to see it go.
But first take some rest, relax, see a good movie (not on a computer screen but a normal TV), read a good book or just take a stroll through the woods to get your balance back.
did things start working again?
Not really. I didn’t manage to make much progress on CubicViewer. However the new work schedule feels good. I’m still struggling to follow it completely but once I’ll get used to it, it should prevent these type of block from happening.
Anyway, work with CE starts at Monday again.
Sorry Jan, your comment got marked as spam for some reason.
Don’t worry, the QuickView is not going anywhere. I was talking about the engine in QuickView that displays the files. Replacing the old engine with CubicViewer will add things like support for reader, writer and editor plug-ins.
So nothing is going away, just the opposite, there will be support for many new file formats.
