Little shorted this week. I fixed most of the reported bugs including the shutdown bug. I received tons of bug reports from it, which is OK. Keep sending them if crashes happen, they help a lot. I added refresh function to bookmarks. They now automatically update when a drive is inserted/removed, or other changes occur. I haven’t done much testing with it so any feedback is welcome. Another new thing is an "Arrange By" button you can find from the Customizer.
CubicExplorer 0.90 beta 3 (0.90.0.1010)
Installer (2.1MB)
Zip (2.0MB)
sort button is sweeeeeeet
The issue I had and reported as a comment with the name “No Name” in the last beta has occured in this beta as well. When I shutdown, the folder window disappears/greys and the Windows not responding dialog times out. Is there something I can do?
As a sidenote, I guess it would be a niche feature, I don’t know, but could meta data also be implemented separately in CE? Like being able to specify your own fields, the information in that field, and being able to sort by that custom data? This way I could assign information like “Artist” and “Site” to files that don’t support metadata like that.
Regardless, nice program :3
Bug Report:
Vista Business; Dell Inspiron 640m laptop; 2GB ram
The tabs when loading a saved session all read “Desktop”.
When you select the tab, it opens the proper directory (e.g. M:\tmp) and changes the tab label to “tmp”. But, it doesn’t do this until you select the tab.
So, after start-up I click on each tab to properly initialize it. Easy work around, but …
Bug Report:
Cubic Explorer will (often at start-up) go off in space for a few minutes. In fact, the window will go black and I get the Vista “(Not Responding)” message on the task bar.
I do almost 100% of my work on networked drives (via a VPN) that are selected for Offline use via the Vista Business feature.
Feature Request:
Dual Panes so I can see 2 directories at once, and copy between them.
Thanks for making CE.
- I’ll fix the tab bug for next release (#83).
- Yeah, there are performance issues with networked drives. Connections should be made in threads and manually without Windows. I haven’t tried any Offline stuff so there might be some issues. I’ll have to check it out.
- Dual Panes are coming. Don’t know the schedule yet though.
