It’s still been quite a busy week but I did manage to fix few bugs. Hopefully next week is better. I really want to get the 0.90 final out and start working with plugin support. Anyway, you can see all changes in the SVN Log. I made FileSearch to use the same layout as FileView does. TextEditor still has it’s own layout. In the future, toolbars will have a global layout so that their position wont change when user flips between different tab types.
Oh by the way, I’m now using WordPress plugin called WP Super Cache to ease up the server load. So if you see something strange or missing pages, let me know.

i’m just curious: what can actually be done with plugins? can you provide a concrete example?
There will be different type of plugins: readers, writers, editors and actions.
-Editor plugins can create new panels and tab types. For example, first plugin I’m going to make is a text editor. It will behave exactly like the built-in editor and actually it will eventually replace it. Similarly there could be image editing plugin.
-Reader plugins could add support for different file formats in QuickView and thumbnail mode. For example, PDF format support could be added in QuickView with a plugin.
-Writer plugins could be used to save files. For example convert BMP to JPG.
-Action plugins could add new items to toolbars and menu.
All this is done because I want to keep CE bloat free. There are many things I’d like to see in CE (like HEX editor), but most of the users would never use those functions. By adding proper plugin support, the feature selection is in the user’s hands.
Anyway, there’s still a long way to go…
