I got my energy back, no more sleepiness
. Unfortunately I’ve been busy all week with other things so I didn’t have much time to work with CE. However, there are few bugs fixed so I’ll upload SVN snapshot. At least the shutdown bug (#133) needs testing so GTHK or anyone else suffering from this bug, please let me know if it’s fixed now.
On other notes, I made pretty sweet deal on some used office furniture. Tomorrow I’ll start to build my new office. It remains to be seen how much time it takes to finish it. I’m not yet sure about the 0.90 RC 2 release, scheduled for next Friday. There are few bugs left that need much work/time.
CubicExplorer 0.90.0.1061 (SVN Snapshot)
Installer (2.1MB)
Zip (2.0MB)

latest snapshot’s “about” page says already CE 0.90 RC2
I guess I should use something like 0.90 RC2 development, just so there isn’t any confusion.
At the end however, the build number is the only one that matters.
you could call RC3 the next release.
Hey there,
Something funny happened after I installed this snapshot over v0.90 RC 1. CubicEx kept crashing everytime I tried to start it and kept showing me the Restart / Bug Report dialog in an endless cycle.
It only started up properly once I deleted 3 config files, namely – layout.xml, settings.xml and sessions.xml.
Just so you know …
Cheers,

@Barta
That wouldn’t be consistent. These snapshots are not official releases.

OK, thanks. I’ll look into it.
One more issue.. This is something I’ve noticed in all the versions since 0.8.x. The file copy occurs at a MUCH SLOWER rate than it does when using Windows Explorer. Is it some buffer related issue or due to some hidden API calls used by WinExplorer?
The problem is further compounded when you try to perform multiple copies at the same time. WinEx handles that without any hiccups… but in CubicEx, the file copy op which starts later HAS to finish first, before the control is handed back to the op which was started first. Only then, it completes.. These two cannot occur parallely..
Any ideas why?
Thanks,
m^e
I don’t know how WE does it but CE uses plain API calls for copying at the moment. I have plans to write a copy manager with multi thread and custom buffer size support.
In the mean while, you could use TeraCopy (or similar) for better performance.
Thanks man.. TeraCopy did speed-up the copies, although not by a very large margin… but still
And keep up the good work. Been silently following the progress on your software for a long time. It’s gradually maturing into a great piece of work with the perfect blend of features.

Found another one similar to TeraCopy called Copy Handler. From what I experienced while using both – Copy Handler handles the copy process much smoother (and faster). Plus it’s open source..
Maybe later on you could incorporate part of their code into the copy process in CubicEx.

Thanks for the tip. I installed Copy Handler and it seems nice so far
