This week I’ve been working with the new settings engine. I’ve removed the old engine and updated everything to use the new one. I’ll still have to update bookmarks and sessions to use the new engine. At the moment I’m in the middle of updating sessions. It looks like I’ll rewrite the whole session support as it’s easier like that. Also I wasn’t very happy with the old session support so now is good time to make it right. Today’s snapshot has sessions disabled but they should be up and running again next week. Hopefully I’ll manage to update bookmarks next week too.
I also added advanced settings editor in the Options Dialog. However, at the moment it doesn’t accept keyboard input for some reason. So you can only use mouse or copy/paste to change the values. I will write my own editor so this one is temporary. More options are coming also.
CubicExplorer 0.91.0.1145 (SVN Snapshot)
Installer (2.2MB)
Zip (2.5MB)

mmmhhh…
it seems that the “reuse already opened tabs” is not working anymore.
the “open in new tab by defualt” from the bookmarks menu seems overcoming it.
the behaviour was differnet with last snapshot in which “reuse already opened tabs” was dominant over “open in new tab by defualt”
any idea about what did happen?
lovely work. one question – dual view? can’t find it.
@blue nose frog
That’s because it’s not yet implemented. It will be available in 0.91 final.
@Tommy
I’ll go through all setting to make sure they work properly. I rewrote many things so it’s certain that I have missed something. Thanks for the feedback.
ok, let’s start the bug hunt!!!
Is this version capable to have a fixed length of Tabs. Some of my folders have long names?
Where are session toolbar and menu ???
Thanks
Hello,
I found also in version 0.90 that program is very slow if you insert manually full nwtwork path.
For example if you insert \\pcname\shared.
If you do it with windows explorer is faster.
Thank you.
> Where are session toolbar and menu ???
“Today’s snapshot has sessions disabled but they should be up and running again next week”
Excuse me!
@Dave
It’s true: CE is very slow to explore lan UNC path!
@mike
No, that’s not available at the moment. I’ll add an option for that.
@Dave
Yes, that’s a known issue. I’ll have to do something about it.
File Association… is it possible? So when I open CubicExplorer, it redirects all my files to programs on my tumbdrive. Here is what I mean:
http://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/xenon_portable
They have done excellent job on File Association, but I really like CubicExplorer. It would be fantastic if you can include this feature.
Great app so far. You did a nice job. Keep it portable. Thank you.
Hi Marko,
A slight bug has been re-introduced in this version regarding the size of icons in the “details” view mode. If you remember from a while back, my computer is setup with a default icon size of 32×32 but the row-hight in the details view is limited to 16×16 meaning the icons are cropped. Can you have a look to see if you can refix the problem
It’s great to see this application is still evolving with lots of exciting features still to come….
Nice one!
Martin
It appears to be a bit faster than 0.90. Still can’t permanently hide the status bar
Another little glitch(?) or maybe a side-effect of the new settings engine. Keyboard shortcuts / keypress actions don’t seem to work in a lot of places.
Examples (Tested in both XP and Vista on separate systems):
1. Right-click, create a new category or bookmark and then try to rename it. The item goes into edit mode and the text is selected by default… but then the control doesn’t accept keystrokes – so you can’t change the name in any way.
2. In the right-pane, when you want to open a file, pressing ENTER key on it doesn’t work. Only double-click does the job.
3. In Vista, the mouse-wheel based vertical scroll (through the file lists) in the right-pane wasn’t working. Functional in XP though.
Apart from that – great work, as always. Keep it going
Cheers,
m^e
@Edin
At the moment it’s not possible but it’s planned.
@Martin
.
D’oh! I remember that bug… now if I could only remember how I fixed it
@callosum
I’ll fix it for next build.
@miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG
1,2. Indeed, there seems to be some weird issue with keyboard. I changed the way hotkeys are handled in this build, so that might be the cause.
3. Yes, that’s a known issue.
Thanks for the feedback guys
did u fix the settings engine for today’s snapshot (may 25th)?
@Tommy
Sorry, no snapshot this week. I’ll write some notes tomorrow.
Is shift+delete broken? Used Shift+CE’s Delete button.
@GTHK
There are many keyboard related issues in this build. Those are fixed in the next build.
Re Mr Cat
If it is any consolation, never forget that YOU gave HIM 17 years of love, warmth, a roof over his head (& his heart), food and more beside.
17 happy years, that’s a long wonderful time… maybe he will send you a “friend in need” . That’s what happened to me when my old feline companion of 19 years passed away, within 2 months, a stray came in & settled down; that was 4 years ago.
Those chaps know how to get under the blankets & into your heart and you never forget them.
