So, I had my much needed vacation. Nothing special, just chilling. Taking a break helped a lot and there has been some nice progress this week. I finished the changes to the layout system which came out quite nice. I still might add one extra option in it but nothing major. So next week I can start working with the DualView and finish the job.
Anyway, I was thinking of releasing a snapshot today but I’m not going to do that because the current CE build is just too buggy and there aren’t any noticeable changes. Next week there definitely will be a snapshot release.

Take that Tommy!
Seriously though, looking forward to next Friday!
it seems other users are making fun of my “snapshot addiction”…
well, i can resist another week… just another one , though…
Hope that you had a great time. Glad to see that you’re back. The Mrs. & I are leaving for 2 weeks to do some “chilling” as well.
Really do appreciate your work on this.
Best regards,
sbasile
CE is going to be the best file browser ever once DualView comes online.
luv this explorer n new changes…only the concern is it’s not having update option within the explorer. Everytime i use i need to uninstall old one and install new one..
Any thoughts in this?
@marulez
You don’t have to uninstall CE, just install it over the old one.
I am working on adding an online updater/version manager. It should be included in version 0.91.
the auto-updater would be a bless!!!
Also, in future do you think we can rename tabs ( idk how you wud do that). I have lot of folders, which has same name for sub folders e.g.
C:ProjectsProject1trunk
C:ProjectsProject2trunk
So, when i have two tabs open ‘both’ are named as ‘trunk’ and it is hard to figure out which one is which. If only i could rename this tabs in explorer, that wud be awesome!…
Keep up the gud work.
@marulez
Ability to rename tabs is planned. Also there will be a feature that display difference with folders that have same name.
I am just waiting for Tommy to ask if there will be any snapshot today
^Thanks Marko..i did try to uninstall on top of old one..i ended having two cubic explorer..one old version and one new one..that’s why i had to uninstall it..
I am eagerly waiting for 0.91 with auto updater feature and yeah ability to rename tabs and be able to see difference will rock when it’s out.
(Steinsk knew that i couldn’t resist asking for it…
Here is the screenshot, what happens when we install new version of CE without uninstalling old one:

@marulez
The “Stable” release is installed in CubicExplorer folder and “Development” versions in CubicExplorer_dev folder. This is so that users can try development versions without messing the stable one.
If you want to install development version over stable one, just change the install path to CubicExplorer and uncheck the Start Menu and Desktop shortcuts.
thanks Marko. i will try this in nxt release.
Also i don’t know if it is a bug or what within the CE but this is what happened. Recently i went to IOWA for some training. There was a shared folder during the training and i created a bookmark inside my CE. I came back home after 5 days, now when i tried to open CE, it got hung for the whole time. Just a blank screen was displayed. I do think it’s because of not finding that shared folder which i bookmarked in IOWA, but again i might be wrong. Let me know if you have any idea what might have happened.
@marulez
That shared folder could be the issue. Bookmarks aren’t really optimized to handle network locations properly. You can delete that bookmark manually from bookmarks.xml file if you can’t do it from CE.
