Notes (week 7) – Building network

There’s been no progress in CE this week. I’ve been rebuilding my work environment which turned out to be quite a big job. Mainly it’s because my central server is now powered by Windows 7 and not Linux which I’m more familiar with. To get all things working together without a problem isn’t that simple it turns out.

Anyway, by trial and error, things are starting to be functional at last. So hopefully I can get back on working with CE next week. As there wasn’t any progress, this weeks snapshot isn’t anything major. There’s only one bug fixed, a bug which I already fixed few weeks ago. The new server should help in preventing mistakes like this from happening in future.

Hey, love Cubic Explorer. But, having a problem loading mapped network drives. CE hangs when I access a folder on a networked drive. Known issue?

I should note: CE hangs when accessing a folder on a network drive, but only when I access the folder via a bookmark. If I access the same folder in the folders view, I don’t have any problems.

Sorry for all the comments. Upon further testing, it seems that the problem only occurs if I try to access a bookmark that was created underneath a Category (in the bookmarks view), and is a bookmark that was created by right-click the category and choosing “Add Bookmark” for the currently selected folder. In the Folders view, if I expand My Computer, then expand the mapped drive, and then drag a folder from the mapped drive to the Bookmarks view, I do not have any problems accessing the mapped drive folder. Thanks!

I am a regular user of cubic explorer, Its a great software, I love it. Thanks for providing it as free. One improvement I can suggest is, from breadcrumb navigation buttons, menu like pop up for directories and files could be given, that will make browsing to the directories faster.
Egerly waiting for next stable version.
Thanks very much
